Going into “Negotiation and Deal-Making” I expected to hit certain points in communicating, but within this month I learned far more. Learned myself as a communicator. Picked up on the legal side of what is discussed and how you’d bring negotiation into open discussion and business discussion. This class wasn’t simple to where we had an assignment and just did it, we were held to a standard which caused me to work harder to achieve my goal. I intend to utilize these picked up attributes into my personal business. I will be utilizing negotiation into open the floor with clear communication, I will be keeping an open mind of what it is my other party is interested in, and to ensure that I’m adjusting my communication style in a way that is complementary to whomever I’m negotiating with. This will build me up in both of businesses, music management and event coordinating. I will be skillful when establishing what I require for my teams, be able to clearly assess the situation, and make sure I’m communicating clearly and knowledgeably. Personally, Negotiation and Deal-Making allows me to navigate in personal conversations, building my networking, my social, and just absorbing information by better listening to others communicate. A valuable lesson first taught in class is be prepared to lose and that requires thinking like those speaking out towards you. In order to do so that requires understanding your communication style and understanding others and how they handle certain situations in order to properly respond without coming off too aggressively or too timidly towards those you may speaking out to. As I go on in my career and meeting different people and conducting different interactions I will build as a negotiator and will be better off making deals with whomever I choose to do business with.
